Dolsot bibimbap (돌솥 비빔밥) by elnina999

Dolsot bibimbap (돌솥 비빔밥)

is served in a very hot stone bowl in which a raw egg is cooked against the sides of the bowl. The bowl is so hot that anything that touches it sizzles for minutes. Before the rice is placed in the bowl, the bottom of the bowl is coated with sesame oil, making the layer of the rice touching the bowl golden brown and crisp. That particular dish is called dol sot bibimbap, and is absolutely delicious!!

Gamjatang (pork bone soup) 감자탕

Gamjatang or pork bone soup is a very nutritious, spicy Korean soup made with pork spine or ribs, vegetables, green onion, hot peppers and ground wild sesame seeds. Mine was true to its name and included gamja ( boiled potatoes). The soup base is a deep red colour from the red hot peppers.
Served with a bowl of steamed rice and a set of 5 cheop banchan (side dishes/appetizers). From left: miyeok muchim (seaweed with sweet vinegar and salt), kimchi (fermented napa cabbage seasoned with chili peppers and salt), buchu kimchi (spicy green onions kimchi), dubu jorim (tofu pan fried and braised in a soy sauce based sauce), kongnamul (cold boiled bean sprouts with sesame oil).

Cheese Bul Dak, banchan, rice - Oriental Spoon, Melbourne

Cheese Bul Dak AUD29.50, banchan, rice - Oriental Spoon, Melbourne. Extremely spicy chilli paste, but the red chillies are the killers. Very good though. Better than Flying Chicken.

Korean Food: Bean Sprout Side-dish (콩나물 무침=KongNaMul MuChim) by aeriskitchen

Korean Food: Bean Sprout Side-dish (콩나물 무침=KongNaMul MuChim)

The Korean bean sprout side-dish, KongNaMul MuChim, is a very common and popular side-dish. In few minutes, you can have a tasty side. Maybe because of that, most Korean restaurants serve this as a side-dish. It is a non-spicy side-dish, but you can add some hot pepper powder to give a little kick if you like spicy food. You can also use this for your bibimbap.

kongnamul - seasoned soy bean sprout

Korean side dish, banchan, featured soy bean sprouts (not mung bean sprouts), sesame oil, garlic, green onion, soy sauce, and sesame seeds. I varied the cooking time a bit to retain more crunchiness to the sprout and used 25% less salt in the boiling water.
