Ah - the now almost mystical Trans Lancs Express operated by this date, in 1974, by the newly formed Greater Manchester PTE who had acquired the route, along with the undertaking, from the predecessor SELNEC PTE upon local government reorganisation. SELNEC had launched the 400 as a limited stop "Express" service that ran from Bolton through Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, Ashton to Stockport and with certain journeys extended to Manchester Airport in 1970. This was partially in answer to the withdrawal of the Bolton - Rochdale railway services in 1970.
The service was first operated with SELNEC's coach fleet but I best recall many journeys on it with the Metro-Scania Metropolitan double deckers that howled their way around the route.

Found in the constellation of Canes Venatici a mere 62 million light years away NGC 4151 has recieved the nickname 'Eye of Sauron'. This unusual spiral galaxy has an active black hole at it's core. This AGN (Active Galactic Nucleus) is one of the closest to us.
How many background galaxies can you count?
Data was gathered from my Bortle 7 back garden over 3 nights during the 1st week of April 2025. I had to delete half my subs due to guiding and star trailing issues.
