Former Southern Pacific SD9E 4409 sits in the back of the former Turlock & Western's track into Chemurgic, awaiting an unknown fate. The SSW EMD GP40-2 7632, as seen in the back, replaced it as the switcher for Chemurgic somewhere in the late 2010s.
Leased unit Dieselmotive Company Bruggere & Monson (BUGX) SD9E #4324 lettered for the Northwestern and Pacific remains at BNSF's Burlington Yard in November 2024. Apparently it has been here since at least 2021 and the material used for capping the stacks has long since been torn away by Mother Nature.
The day after this picture was taken, the Modoc Line was closed as a through route due to high water. According to the Klamath Falls Herald and News, it would remain shut down for an "indefinite period." Through operations resumed on September 6 1995.
