"Stilt Wing Water Dip" by Patti Deters. Picture a quiet morning by the water, where the delicate flutter of wings breaks the silence, and the day starts to awaken. This Black-necked Stilt (Himantopus mexicanus) glides effortlessly above the water, its one wing tip just barely breaking the surface of the water. The water is so still that the bird's reflection is almost perfect in the mirror-like surface. This particular bird was seen at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas, USA which is near Mustang Island and is on the Great Texas Birding Trail.
