Another dumb sign on the marquee of the Porta Pizzeria in Montclair New Jersey, the marquee leftover from the failed supper club that occupied this space for less than two years before COVID hit. The marquee- once used to advertise performers at the supper club and at the comedy club that existed here before then - is now used to send messages lie this one in a brazen attempt at cuteness, an example of cutesy-pie signs examined by Paul Fussell for stupidity in his 1991 polemic BAD or, The Dumbing of America.
Another thing - this is New Jersey. The state bird is a mosquito, the state flower is a swamp grass, the state tree is dead, the state gem is asphalt, the state motto is an expletive, and the state song is “Everything's Gonna Be Alright (Ghetto Bastard)." We don't have any patience for this cutesy-pie nonsense, sucka, and in Essex County, which includes Newark as well as Montclair, that goes double.
Tkane with my flip phone. Yo - you got a problem with that? 'Cause if you got a problem with that, we can settle it right heah, you mutha! ;-)
Blackhawk waterfall in part of the Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve in Kane County, IL. This is a natural waterfall that is unfortunately close to Route 31 in South Elgin. Unfortunate for photographers anyway. It is a challenge to get a pic of the waterfall from a desirable vantage point that does not also capture the graffiti-covered concrete bridge and guard rail in the background.
Dogs on leashes feel trapped and become aggressive towards other dogs.
Photographed at a dog park in Northfield Minnesota.
July 15th 2018.
Another photo found buried deep within the bowels of my iPhone.
What a load of crap!!! Every time I bring out a leash my dog goes crazy and cant wait to get outside. It's bad enough they put this sign up but they had to misspell the word aggressive.
June 14, 2017 - A visit to the Summer Palace in Beijing. In 1998 when the Summer Palace was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site this is what was said about it: "A masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design. The natural landscape of hills and open water is combined with artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value".
Such a pretty little park right down the road from the Ebensburg Animal Clinic. After leaving there with Sunny today, I thought we'd take a little walk around it.
These "stay off the grass" signs are posted all over the place. What kind of park doesn't allow people on the grass? How do you get to the benches and the picnic tables without walking on the grass? How do you walk to the edge of the lake to fish without walking on the grass?
Now that I'm thinking about this, perhaps they mean "no parking in the grass"???!!! If so, perhaps their signs should be reworded for those of us who take things so literally?
