Back in 1996 Creative Manufacturing Systems were a tooling, design and manufacturing company based in Redditch that had just completed a sub-contract to deliver body tooling for the Plymouth Prowler. This prompted them toward the idea of building a Sportscar of their own. Designed by Howard Guy and Peter Doy of Jaguar the new car was given a project name and a search began for a brand to market the new car under. After negotiations Jensen's former owners widow agreed to use of the name.
The car was debuted at the 1998 Birmingham NEC Motor Show, 60 orders were taken at the show and that number quickly rose to 300. But investment was slow to follow and twelve months later the car was shown again at the Earls Court, London and again more orders followed, still no cars. At the 2000 NEC Motor show along with the SV8 a CV8 Coupe once again styled by Guy and Doy wowed the press and public. Finally a production facility had been set up in Speke on Merseyside close to the Jaguar, Halewood plant. The first customer car was delivered in 2002 the production rose to three or four cars a week which did not generate the turnover to pay the work force. By July 2002 inevitably the receivers were called in. With only 20 cars produced and another 18 partly completed. These were disposed of by the receiver to an engineering firm who completed 12 cars retaining the remaining parts as spares
