Exact replica of the Mayberry Sheriff's Department Patrol Car at Heritage Day in Granville, Tennessee (known as Tennessee's Mayberry Town). A 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 that has been painted, decaled, and trimmed out to look identical to the patrol car featured on the best television show ever aired...The Andy Griffith Show (1960 - 1968) starring Mr. Andy Griffith. I was so excited to see this car as we walked down the street toward where it was sitting and decided, after I processed the photograph, to convert it to Black & White just like it would have looked on screen during the first 5 seasons before the show was colorized for the final 3 seasons.
Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6 including the final conversion to B&W done with Nik Silver Efex Pro II through PS6.
"For I know the plans I have for you", declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~Jeremiah 29:11

A Shakespeare Sunday 60th anniversary salute to "The Andy Griffith Show," debuting on CBS October 3, 1960. The sitcom aired for eight years (249 episodes) ending April 1, 1968. Remarkably, it was a top-ten rated program throughout its entire run. By today's standards, the show is corny and dated, but its charming "feel good" old-fashioned atmosphere is as addictive now as it was then. It's fun and the lead character always does right by everyone he encounters, setting a good example for those around him. Not a terrible thing in this world.
FYI: The main theme with the whistling while Andy and Opie walk down the road (above) is titled "The Fishing Hole." Happy 60th anniversary. Well done, all.
A Shakespeare Sunday salute to Don Knotts, born July 21, 1924 in Morgantown, WV. He started his career as a ventriloquist but moved to straight comedy when joining the army's Special Services Branch in World War II. Knotts appeared on Broadway with Andy Griffith in No Time For Sergeants, and when Andy landed a TV sitcom about a small-town sheriff, Don pitched the idea for a deputy—and won five consecutive Best Supporting Actor Emmys for his signature performance as bulldog of the law, Barney Fife.
