Don Knotts was a comic actor best known for his role as Barney Fife in The Andy Griffith Show, starting in 1960, for which he won 5 Emmy Awards. He also starred in the sitcom Three's Company from 1979-1984 and later with Andy Griffith again on Matlock from 1988-92. Knotts specialised in characters that were neurotic, anxious and somewhat fumbling, but thought they were the perfect ladies' man.
Knotts had a relatively successful movie career throughout the 1960s and 70s starring in The Incredible Mr. Limpet, The Reluctant Astronaut, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, The Shakiest Gun in the West, The Apple Dumpling Gang and The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again. He died at the age of 81 in 2006.
The knotted rope is self explanatory and has no known film or television credits in its tangled history.
We're Here looks at Knots today.

This is the backlot of the DesiLu studios in Culver City CA. Also in this photo are the sets of Gomer Pyle USMC and the German prison camp set of Hogan's Heroes. Also there are some buildings used in Gone With the Wind. The entire lot was destroyed in the early 70's and is now home to an office complex.
The resting place of the stars - this is a small memorial park just off Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. You will find more stars per square foot than in any other cemetery. This one has Marilyn Monroe, Dean Martin, Hugh Hefner, Kirk Douglas, Mel Torme, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Eva Gabor, Karl Malden, Peter Falk, Rodney Dangerfield, Farrah Fawcett, Don Knotts and Buddy Rich, just to name a few - all in the space of a little over one city block.
