"Clear Blue Wyoming Sky" by Patti Deters. This landscape photograph was taken along the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway (Wyoming 296) which winds through the Shoshone National Forest among some of the most beautiful terrain in the Cowboy State. The sky was clear blue with no clouds to be seen. The hills and mountains were gently rolling and covered with trees and green grass. This is a fantastic road trip highly recommended for all travelers. Caught this star trail while in beautiful Wyoming! Unfortunately the moon was full and drowned out a lot of the stars, but it also did illuminate the foreground nicely. I took 203 photos, but had to toss about 75 of them due to cloud coverage.

Home of Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Tetons, the Black Hills and Devil's Tower, Wyoming is sparsely settled but it has plenty of big game from elk to buffalo. It is covered with rugged mountain ranges, high mountain lakes, sheer granite cliffs, deserts, forests and prairie, so it is worthy of the name, Cowboy State.
