Fort Barfoot Fire and Emergency Services personnel manage a prescribed burn along with the staff from Natural Resources Division of the Fort Barfoot Department of Public Works March 12, 2025, at Fort Barfoot, Virginia. The prescribed burn helped to support military training by reducing fuel loads in the area, thereby lessening the risk for dangerous and intense wildfires that can be caused by incendiary devices and lead to training downtime. Other objectives of the burn were to improve wildlife habitat and timber stand improvement in forest management areas. Virginia National Guard aviation crews also conducted aerial fire suppression training during the burn, and you can view photos at vngpao.info/3bnjy5f4. (U.S. National Guard photo by Cotton Puryear)

VNG Soldiers direct citizens, manage traffic in support of 60th Presidential Inauguration

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Jason Ford, Cavalry Scout, 183rd Cavalry Scout Unit, Virginia National Guard talks with local law enforcement to assist with crowd control in the District of Columbia during 60th Presidential Inauguration on Jan 20, 2025. Approximately 8,000 National Guard service members from approximately 40 states and territories comprise JTF-DC to support the 60th Presidential Inauguration, continuing a legacy that began in 1789 when their predecessors escorted George Washington to the first inauguration. At the request of civil authorities, these National Guard service members provide critical support such as crowd management, traffic control points, CBRN response, civil disturbance response and sustainment operations. Their expertise and seamless collaboration with interagency partners help ensure a safe and peaceful transition of power during this historic event. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt. It was seen coming in on runway 25 at Orly, now sporting the new EAS livery that was adopted with the Caravelle. F-BTOV was one of the very few EAS Vanguards receiving the new livery.

In 1981 it as withdrawn from use, and after a short stint in Indonesia, was permantly stored and eventually broken-up at Perpignan, France, sometime after 1987.
