D26631a[vid]. The popular visitor attraction of Rhosili on the Gower Peninsular, South Wales. There is a fabulous beach and some far reaching sea views from the cliff tops.
At the end is Worm’s Head, an off shore headland, connected to the mainland by a rocky causeway. But this causeway is only passable at low tide, so care is needed when crossing to make sure that there is sufficient time to return before the tide comes in again. People often get stranded over there - and this includes the famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas!
On the occasion of my visit the tide was coming in and Worm's Head causeway was rapidly disappearing under the rising waters. There are numerous warning notices about the danger of being cut off by the rising tide but, despite this, six people still were over there and had to be rescued by the inshore lifeboat!
On the walk from Worm's Head back to Rhosili village we encountered a herd of beautiful wild horses. They were quite oblivious of the herds of humans invading their world.
