After waiting for JBR's 6AK8 to clear the section, PN Intermodal service 3PM6 commences the climb up the Adelaide Hills through suburban Hawthorn behind NR92/NR71/8121/G537 on Friday the 6th of January 2023.
3PM6 is normally used to transfer Banker locomotives up to Tailem Bend to assist the next day's trains through the notorious Mt Lofty ranges. Pacific National usually allocate older locomotive power such as the G, AN and 81 class locomotives to this task.

Pacific National regularly use their Ghan, Indian Pacific and Great Southern liveried NR class units on freight services when not on passenger trains, also taking the opportunity to forward locomotives to Spotswood in Melbourne for regular 80 day inspections and general maintenance at UGL, units NR75/NR17 are on Intermodal service 3PM6 at Hawthorn on Friday the 2nd of October 2020. Both locomotives will make a visit to UGL following the completion of this train.

After crossing fellow PN Intermodal service 5MP5 at Mile End, Pacific National Intermodal service 3PM6 wastes no time as it powers though Millswood with NR37/NR99/G530/AN5/NR100 on Friday the 5th of October 2018, the rear 3 units were dropped off at Tailem Bend for banking duties over the weekend.
