6MP4 with NR10-NR118 pass the line of "paparazzi" as it heads west to Perth via the station "bypass" designed to accommodate double-stack containers and hi-cube vehicles under the town's bridges.

Amtrak 500 ; Ole Silver Hosepower, gets the honor today. Seeing these old soliders out on the road is a treat these days.

Paying Their Respects on Memorial Day (2010)

Ashby NE where a BNSF loaded coal drag is passing by gravestones decorated for Memorial Day - commemorated the day before. Doing the work up front of the coal drag are a pair of matching elephant-style GE ES44ACe: 6045-6142. Looking closely, there seems to be some humour amongst the solemnity of the occasion.

BHPIO GE CM39-8 5633 "Hephaestus" pushes an empty iron ore consist through Shaw crossing loop on August 11, 1998.
Note the placement of the "High-Tech" End-Of -Train Marker hung on a chain across the rear hand rails!

Lot's of nicknames for the EoTMs some not printable, but FRED was pretty common: "Flamin' Ridiculous Electronic Device".

Train in the Pilbara Landscape (1998)

Train in a Vast Red & Green Pilbara Landscape: the interaction between a BHPIO iron ore train and the expanse of the Pilbara landscape is often quite spectacular.
A loaded iron ore train hauled by BHPIO GE rebuilt CM40-8Ms 5666-5646 power out of Hesta loop on their way to the Nelson Point dumper in Port Hedland on August 10, 1998.
This is a tele-shot bringing in close the impressive ridge in the background and including the "water feature".
(Another two-legged “drone” shot!!)

The standard lens composition as the train departs the loop, putting it in context in the landscape, can be seen here: flic.kr/p/2q5zoTs
