SVV 475.196 + 556.036, Zr 31515, Odb.
This view of a steam train stopped in Telgart, Slovakia (low Tatras) in February 2024 is not much different from what it would have been 50 years ago. There are very few modern elements in the photo, this type of steam locomotive was in regular service at the time, and the telegraph lines have been preserved. There are few places, apart from some rural lines in Eastern Europe, where you can recapture the atmosphere of the period.

The #556-036 carries its iconic communist red star. Of course, it is a preserved engine kept in original condition. It is a type 2-10-0 as per the Anglo-Saxon categorization of steam engines, or 1-E in Germany and central Europe, or 150 in France. It is a modern engine, built in 1952 by Skoda Plzen, a large series of 510 units. See here: sk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parn%C3%BD_ru%C5%A1e%C5%88_556.0
In the evening of February 24, 2024, the 556-036 with a freight train was staying still in the Červená Skala station. It was the star of a night photo session organized by a super team of German railfans and Slovakian railroaders, on a steam tour funded by several dozen railfans from many countries.
