Kraai die van een verfrissend slokje geniet en de gebroken hartjes ook wat water gunt.

I planted this bleeding heart over 25 years ago beside an old garden shed. It thrived in the shade until Hurricane Sandy brought the shed down in 2012. The area became a debris site, and I assumed the plant was lost.
Then last spring, my dog’s barking led me to a rabbit nest tucked behind our shaded compost heap—and right beside it, this beauty was blooming in all her glory! I left her there undisturbed, but this spring, as soon as she emerged, I gently moved her to a new garden bed.
She seems to love her new home—and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have her back.
My red Bleeding Heart cultivar 'Valentine' is blooming beautifully in my garden right now, reminding me that I am a proud bleeding heart liberal who despises the cruelty and stupidity of our current president., and all the horrible wars in the world.
"Many smiling faces hide a bleeding heart."
