L'OCCHIO SI PUO' INGANNARE
Si può dire che il trompe l’oeil, il tentativo di dare l’illusione della tridimensionalità e della loro apparenza agli oggetti raffigurati, nasca con la pittura. Famosissimo il racconto di Plinio il vecchio sulla gara fra i due celebri pittori greci, Zeusi e Parrasio: il primo capace di dipingere grappoli d’uva così realistici da indurre gli uccelli a beccarli, il secondo in grado di ingannare l’occhio esercitato di Zeus stesso che, di fronte alla tenda dipinta da Parrasio, cerca di scostarla credendo nascondesse il quadro.

THE EYE CAN BE DECEPTED
It can be said that the trompe l'oeil, the attempt to give the illusion of three-dimensionality and their appearance to the objects depicted, was born with painting. The story of Pliny the Elder on the competition between the two famous Greek painters, Zeuxis and Parrhasius is very famous: the first capable of painting bunches of grapes so realistic as to induce birds to peck at them, the second able to deceive the trained eye of Zeus himself who, in front of the curtain painted by Parrasio, tries to move it aside, believing it was hiding the painting.

Design Week - Salone del Mobile Milano
My reportage "Anteprima Design Week" carries on with few more design objects I selected to photograph.
Here in my diptych: two see-through trays with embedded laces and a mirror background, designed by Philippe Starck for Kartell.
Under the collection title "The Royal Style", chandeliers and tableware objects presented precious embroideries, which recall the past but become a modern elegant design object, like tea time with the family. TEATIME is the new tray by Philippe Starck, which plays with references to laces and crocheted fretwork applied to a new sustainable material, transparent like Perspex, with a high technological content. I saw this new trays line available in translucent gold, bronze, chrome and pink colours, these last illustrated by my diptychon.
Lots of editing in post-production for both photos as all the trays were displayed one leaning against the other in a messy way and transparent and mirrored surfaces with too strong reflections but I believe it was worth while to show such beauty.
