Feng shui is an ancient Chinese practice that aims to bring harmony to all areas of your life and balance your energies.

Like any good story there is a goodie and a baddie. In FS, the goodie is feng shi and the baddie is shar chi. This is where poisonous comes in. One of the most poisonous sources of shar chi - the bad energy - are 'poison arrows' and they come at our houses and ourselves from sharp points.

"At their worst, poison arrows can create severe loss, such as loss of memory or money or health." *

But luckily for the millions of Chinese who follow FS and have to live 'cheek by jowel' with their neighbors so that it must be extremely difficult to avoid pointy objects from some direction, FS can also help with these 'poison arrows.' Effective barriers to stop or deflect 'poison arrows' are trees, wind chimes, stones and mirrors. Mirrors are considered aggressive as they deflect the bad shar chi back at the neighbours.

In my photo, (of a fridge magnet), there are actually several examples of how to use FS to protect your house from the poisonous shar chi and its 'poison arrows.' There are lots of trees between the two dwellings (solves several problems) and a temple dog on duty out the front of the house.

俗諺說「皇帝嘴，餬鱱鱱」（台語發音），意思是說出自皇帝嘴巴的話就會應驗，民間野史相傳臭頭皇帝朱元璋當皇帝前滿頭癩痢，有次為逃避元兵追殺，四處躲竄，好不容易捱到一棵苦楝樹下打盹，適值冬寒料峭，苦楝樹上結滿了果實，但卻不停的打在朱元璋的癩痢頭上，痛得他大罵苦楝：「你這個壞心的東西，你會死過年。」

不知是否真的應驗了這個詛咒，成年的苦楝樹樹幹，經常腐蝕成中空狀，且每到秋天便開始枝葉凋零，呈現一片枯槁。

有人認為其枯槁的景象不但不吉，且其苦楝音同「可憐」更加不利。使得遭人嫌棄，一生難登大雅之堂，甚且欲除之而後快。
