The year 1911 lingers among us even yet, in the form of a beige-colored duplex with green trim, in two kinds of siding. by Tim Kiser

The year 1911 lingers among us even yet, in the form of a beige-colored duplex with green trim, in two kinds of siding.

The duplex is haunted by sounds of scratchy recordings of dreadful popular songs from the year it was built, such as "Oh, You Beautiful Doll" and "Archibald! Certainly Not." Purge my memories!

See five front doors at this lineup of apts from 1910 near OSU in Columbus, with three porches and two lozenges of brickwork.

I worry that the effort to create lozenges of brickwork has been wasted on these OSU students. They don't care about charming architectural touches!

A windowless neotudor pastiche in Columbus — from 1975!

Stand out here in the street and look at this aptbldg's imitation half-timbering, and sing the U.S. hit songs of 1975:

• "Jive Talkin'"
• "Rhinestone Cowboy"
• "Philadelphia Freedom"
• "I'm Not Lisa, My Name Is Julie"
• "Bad Blood (The Bitch Is In Her Smile)"

Somebody drew crosshairs on the OSU "O" on that ornamental rock in the yard!!

1973 modest aptbldg for OSU students.

"The staircase gives the building a strong diagonal that I really love," I explained to a hostile passerby who asked me what the hell I was taking pictures of. "Also it's from 1973 and it has those electric meters and air conditioners, and that rust stain."

Housing for comfortably well-off U.S. people of 1907!

"What! Those windowshutters are phony!" I pretended to exclaim.

One example of the insipid popular music of 1907 is "Because I'm Married Now," a dreadful song performed by Billy Murray using his special "whine-singing" technique.

In Columbus an enormous house from 1910 has become a pizzeria. by Tim Kiser

In Columbus an enormous house from 1910 has become a pizzeria.

This pizzeria is locally famous for its ridiculous "extra-long awning of food words with pizza listed twice" connecting it to the bar next door. The awning is in OSU colors.

Per G. Streetview, its paintcolor went from green to red sometime between October 2017 and June 2019, and a bunch of vines were scraped off the building at that time also.

Here, look at it green in 2014.

Here, look at it teeming with obnoxious fans of American football. I would be so unhappy if I had to be among these people!

"I live in the Waterbeds 'n' Stuff apartments, you ought to come see me sometime." by Tim Kiser

"I live in the Waterbeds 'n' Stuff apartments, you ought to come see me sometime."

Waterbeds 'n' Stuff is famously not a waterbed store but rather a chain of head shops in the Columbus area.

Per its website, "Waterbeds ‘n’ Stuff is the world’s best online smoke shop selling pipes, bongs, vaporizers, dab rigs, vape pens, adult products, synthetic urine, & detox with free shipping nationwide." Mostly I shop there for synthetic urine. I love it! I walk out the door with big bagsful and haul them up to my apartment.

This old stack of bricks was the "Bretton Hall" apartment building from 1912, as viewed in 2019. It had creepy little cross paty ornaments all over it.
