Vintage February 1979 issue of Overdrive Magazine - The Magazine for American Truckers. The magazine price is the Price of Truth. Nice pin-up type cover - rockin’ the peasant top and hip-huggers. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!

Vintage Spring 1958 issue of men’s girlie cheesecake pin-up magazine,Firsta. Unlike pseudo-intellectual nudie magazines like Playboy, magazines such as this one claimed no such illusion. Their primary purpose was erotic imagery and in the publishing industry were considered nothing more than “rags”. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Vintage November 1954 issue of True Strange Medical Facts Magazine. Consisting of stories, features and articles written by quacks or charlatans who pretended to have the medical skill and knowledge that they did not possess. Many of these doctor’s were about as qualified in the medical field as NBA basketball great Julius “Dr. J” Erving. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Vintage March 1966 issue of The Big Boys - a Men’s Beefcake Muscle Posing Magazine. These magazines were devoted to physique photography of muscular "beefcake" men – typically young and attractive hunky boys - in athletic poses and revealing minimal clothing. They were presented as magazines dedicated to fitness, health, and bodybuilding, with the models often shown demonstrating exercises or the results of their regimens, or as artistic photographic reference material. However, their unstated primary purpose was erotic imagery similar to their counterpart female model artist and photographer magazines. Physically fit out of work struggling actors, recently discharged servicemen, ex-convicts, hustlers, boosters, drifters and ne’er do wells proved to be a wealth of candidates to choose from as models. Tattoos were a plus. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Vintage 1950s issue (no date) of Pulsating Beauty - a pseudo Art and Photography Magazine. Magazines such as this one claimed to be published for artistic purposes to avoid censorship issues. Issue is devoted to several models in various stage of dress and undress. In reality these were basically just girlie, cheesecake, pin-up and nudie rags. I was an art student in the 1960s and have seen more than my share of these publications. Popular in their time - just not by artists, sculptors and photographers. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Vintage July 1954 issue of Astounding Science Fiction Magazine with a Gay Interest Beefcake Physique Cover. Interestingly enough the cover image has nothing to do with anything inside the magazine. Cover “bait” at its finest as it appears the publisher was trying to lure in readers of beefcake physique magazines. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Vintage March 1967 issue of Men’s Digest Magazine with actress Elle Sommer on the cover. Combination men’s interest and pin-up magazine, and not your typical nudie, but sleazy none-the-less. Cover stories, like this one with Elke Sommer, would always “bait” someone to purchase the magazine, the story itself would always fail to deliver. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Vintage June 1962 issue of men’s adventure magazine, Peril - the All Man Magazine. As an art student in the 1960s I was always fascinated with the cover graphics of these magazines and how the antagonists were always depicted as less than human. While these publications are widely known as Men’s Adventure Magazines, the magazine publishing industry referred to them as “Sweats”. Unfortunately later in 1970s the covers became a mix of photos and illustrations, in addition to the stories turning more to the sleazy side of life. Looking back at it now, the covers were the best part of the magazine, as the pages within always failed to deliver. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Vintage February 1966 issue of Intimate Story Magazine with Raquel Welch on the cover. When I was in High School in the 1960s I was amazed how many of the girls read these magazines. While these cover stories would always “bait” someone to purchase the magazine, the story itself would always fail to deliver. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Vintage 1960 issue (no date) of The Delectable Daring world of Darlene - a pseudo Art and Photography Magazine. Magazines such as this one claimed to be published for artistic purposes to avoid censorship issues. Issue is devoted to one model in various stage of dress and undress. In reality these were basically just girlie, cheesecake, pin-up and nudie rags. I was an art student in the 1960s and have seen more than my share of these publications. Popular in their time - just not by artists, sculptors and photographers. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Vintage March 1948 issue of True Police Cases Magazine. No detective/police or true crime magazine would be complete without some lurid item on the cover, or beautiful woman, to “bait” a prospective buyer. This magazine is no exception. Great suicide blonde. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Vintage 1960 (no month) issue of men’s girlie cheesecake pin-up magazine, Man’s Favorite Pastime. Unlike pseudo-intellectual nudie magazines like Playboy, magazines such as this one claimed no such illusion. Their primary purpose was erotic imagery and in the publishing industry were considered nothing more than “rags”. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
