The building's abandonment has been bumming out the local people for many years!

The beloved old marquee of the Oak Street Cinema in Minneapolis. by Tim Kiser

The beloved old marquee of the Oak Street Cinema in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis is the easternmost city of the Wild West!, I saw a scrawny coyote chasing a tumbleweed through the closed-off lanes of Oak Street but I wasn't able to dig my camera out of my satchel in time. And then a clamour of wind came up that blasted me with a faceful of grit, one of the pieces of which I think scratched one of my corneæ.

Some years back I saw several movies' worth of a Rainer Werner Fassbinder film festival at the Oak Street Cinema, and I wish sometime that those old movies would get shown again at whichever of the cinemæ in town.
