It had been quite a while since I had been able to spend a full day shooting trains across the area, but I finally got a full day off to do so, and I took full advantage across not only Illinois, Indiana, but also for the first time in my life, Michigan!
Our fourth stop brought us to Hammond, a hotspot for IHB, CFE, and Class 1 railroad action! The first of significance as we arrived was CFE 4034, the new Whiskers unit, and CSX 7865 light powering west to grab CFE CHFW in Blue Island, the near daily manifest from Blue Island to Fort Wayne, IN.
Genesee & Wyoming locomotives sit at the locomotive shops in Tazewell & Peoria's East Peoria yard. There's a mix of different companies, such as TP&W, I&O, CFE and TZPR.
