A quintet of leaves growing new on a chestnut tree...spatulate (how's that for a word ?) and green...
I have two normal routes to the river through parkland, both featuring large, mature chestnut trees and all currently turning greener and greener and gorgeouser (probably not a word) and greatly pleasing on the eye and mind.

Chestnut trees are deciduous hardwoods known for their broad canopies, toothed leaves, and sweet, edible nuts encased in spiky husks. Once widespread in Europe and North America, their numbers have declined due to diseases like chestnut blight, though they remain valued for their timber, nuts, and ornamental beauty.
