9 of 10 Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse.
The first Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse was built in the late 1800's south of the famous 'Lost Colony' area of Roanoke Island.
In the 1500's English settlers first attempted a permanent settlement here on this island in the New World, or North America. Roanoke Island is located in what is now the town of Manteo, North Carolina in the United States. Other lighthouses were later built, but soon succumbed to the harsh coastal environment.
This latest lighthouse was built in 2004 and is a replica of the third lighthouse, with screw-pile supports and a vintage Fresnal lens.

Another pic from Maria Island just off the coast of Tasmania. It is pronounced "ma-rye-ah", not "ma-ree-ah" island. Although the traditional owners call it wukaluwikiwayna , which sounds much more poetic to me!
Have a great week out there!

This photograph features a large group of Common Guillemots perched on the rocky cliffs of the Isle of May, a renowned bird sanctuary located off the east coast of Scotland. The striking contrast of their black and white plumage against the rugged cliffs creates a captivating scene, showcasing the natural habitat of these seabirds.
Rocce in bilico—
un arco tra cielo e mare,
blu che si confonde.
Isola di Pantelleria
Rocce, cielo e mare. Che si sostengono, insieme, contro gli altri elementi. Una metafora che fa pensare.
Buona giornata
