87002 'Royal Sovereign' on the Rugby to Crewe section of the charter followed by 60532, ex-98832, 'Blue Peter' an L.N.E.R. 'Peppercorn' class A2 on the front for the trip to York. 47810, ex-D1924, 'Crewe Diesel Depot' was on the back throughout, 'Saphos Trains' being the tour promoter and L.S.L., 'Locomotive Services Ltd.', the Train Operating Company.
In this view, Freightliner class 70, 70010, hurries through along platform 2, to head West to Earles Sidings on the 6M89, Dewsbury Blue Circle to Hope Earles Sidings for a cement refill. Parked up on platform 1, ready to head north, is a Northern class 195, 195132, on the 2S78, Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield service. In earlier circumstances, before the double-track was re-instated, the Freightliner would have had to wait time until the 195 cleared away out of the single-track section; a good example of what all the work was undertaken for in the last year or two.
* Two further passenger services passed through the station a little after the charter, before moving off to the Dore West Curve area. These were-
* T.P.E.class 185s, 185105 & 185122 on the 1B74, Liverpool Lime Street to Cleethorpes service passing along platform 1 and, over on the left on the main lines-
* East Midland Trains, class 222, 'Meridian', 222023 on the 1F25, St. Pancras to Sheffield service heading north; there is no access to the main southbound and northbound lines from the newly re-modelled station site ...

Later at West View on the Dore West Curve-

* G.B.R.f. class 66, 66723, 'Chinook', 'RAF ZA723', 6H73, Washwood Heath to Tunstead Sidings was 'Cancelled & re-instated'..
At Totley East Box-
Two passenger trains pass the site of the now defunct 'Totley Tunnel East Box', one of the victims along here from the recent remodelling and re-signalling which had just taken place. This resulted in this box, and those at Grindleford & Hope being decommissioned and demolished as part of the up-grade multi-aspect colour light signalling. Earles Sidings signalbox is still extant and still in regular use and it doesn't look as if this will change any time soon, being as it is, located at the sidings controlling the moves into and out of the Castleton quarry... On this day-
* Heading west away from the camera are a pair of East Midland Trains, class 158s, 158865 at the front and 158810 at the rear on the 1R66, Norwich to Liverpool Lime St. service and, heading this way,
* Northern class 195, 195116, on the 2S89, Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield service...
All signalling control in this area has now been bestowed, via the old Sheffield P.S.B. at the station, to the York Railway Operating Centre, an era now having come to a close on this part of the Hope Valley line...
A bit of an early start for this one, though not as early as for the passengers on this 'Bath Christmas Market Express'. It had left Dorridge bound for Bath at 5.49am! 70000 Britannia was going to be put on in place of the lead 47, D1924 'Crewe Diesel Depot', at Hanwell Bridge Loop for the last stretch to Bath Spa. 57 311 was on the rear. It passed though here, South Greenford almost 20 minutes late having left Dorridge a bit late. Then it got held up trying to squeeze onto New North Mainline via the Chiltern Line and onto the Greenford Branch between morning Chiltern services and the Greenford Shuttle. However, this late running meant that by the time it passed through Greenford the clouds had passed and the sun was rising. And even though it wasn't steam hauled at this point, D1924 had entered traffic in 1966 making her 58 years old having carried 3 other numbers and two other names in the meantime!
