Beach relaxing

A grey seal pup has found a hidden spot between the beach dunes to relax. Every winter, the largest german grey seal colony in the wadden sea gathers on the Heligoland dune to give birth to their pups. Several hundred grey seals are born here every year between November and January. Grey seal bulls reach sizes of up to 2.50 m and weigh up to 300 kg, making them the largest free-living predators in Germany. Watching these beautiful animals up close in the wild was a very special experience for me.

A grey seal pup posing as a banana, which means that it raises its head and tail at the same time and stays that way for some time. Grey seals do this to regulate their body temperature. The survivor

The Harbor Seals in La Jolla look sleek and pretty - from a distance. I saw virtually none of these scars, scrapes and other signs of wear and tear from a distance on this resting seal, but there they all are in the close-up view.

Harbor Seal, crop

The large crescent-shaped scar here is interesting. Great White sharks are known (although not common) in this area. But perhaps it has another source!
