The final moments of daylight tick off as another day comes to a close west of Williston, North Dakota last night (3-13-2024). I had driven out to nearby eastern Montana seeking subjects to shoot after work last night and didn't find anything particularly inspiring. Overcast made an attempt to move in but as I drove around the bypass on the west side of town, I noticed that there was still a break in the clouds near the horizon. "Find something for silhouettes", I thought to myself. A drilling rig, pumpjacks perhaps? I chose an old favorite standby, power lines and a distant pumpjack on a pad along one of the dirt roads. When everything is still brown and spring seems like a distant dream, one takes what they can get.
