The synagogue was built in the one-time Várda Street, back in 1890, on the designs of Nándor Bach who also designed a similar synagogue in Satu Mare -- hence its common name, Várda Street Orthodox Synagogue. (Before WWII there were 18 different edifices which can be considered as synagogues, or religios places for the local Jewish community). This building was recently renovated at the moment of taking, Nowadays that is the only active place of worship for Jews in Oradea.
