Done in the field with somewhat of a wind challenge. Flash gives that blacked out background studio look.
Quite small insect; that lens is amazing. If you look at the front legs folded back along the wings, you can see they give a lot of power to leap!
I've seen so few of these this season. I did come across this one on maybe the last day available this year.
When shooting with this lens I dared to shoot at minimum aperture. Forgive me if I diffracted.

Pale Green Assassin Bugs are incredibly common across the eastern United States. These ambush predators are tiny but fierce.

Made with a Nikon DSLR, probably D500 and 105mm macro. This is from my vast number of photos I made last year in a dried-up abandoned river channel. It was filled with insect-attracting plant life. This year the main river flooded and backed up into this place. It's receding now and the channel is drying slowly. I hope by October to see something there again.
