Within family Sepsidae, tiny flies with many species resembling ants. Perhaps genus Parapalaeosepsis.
And many Sepsidae have a curious wing-waving habit made more apparent by the tiny dark patches at the wing end.
They can often be found around dung or decaying plant and animal material where eggs are laid and larvae develop.
Also commonly known as scavenger flies.
Around 4 mm length.

What a face. And those antennae. Like a little alien being.
Beetles within family Lycidae are commonly known as net-winged beetles.
This native Australian species is known as the long nose Lycid as it has elongated facial elements and mouthparts which I wanted to highlight here. It uses these to feed on nectar.
I believe the bright orange and black colours are a warning to predators that it is toxic and distasteful. Beware!
Porrostoma rhipidius, 20 mm body length.

Jewel bugs exhibit a wide range of iridescent metallic hues that change with the view angle - this one appears red and gold here, but a second later shone a vivid red and green.
Scutiphora is a monotypic genus containing S. pedicellata. They can be found along the east coast of this country.
Also known as metallic shield bugs and shield-backed bugs. They are true bugs, with piercing and sucking mouthparts.
