ROSIE: *Groans, pushes and shoves a large Easter Egg across the lawn.* "Look Scout! I found a lovely big Pink Easter Egg! It's so big there will be plenty to share with mijn prins Peter!"
SCOUT: "Oh! He will love that, Rosie! That's very kind of you!"
ROSIE: "Well, I love mijn prins Peter, so of course I am going to share my Easter Eggs with him. What are you doing, Scout?"
SCOUT: "I'm collecting more pretty pink Easter Eggs before every other bear collects them. I caught Nanuk trying to snaffle one!"
ROSIE: "I do hope you managed to get it back!"
SCOUT: "I did, Rosie, so don't worry! We can enjoy them later! Pink is my favourite colour you know."
ROSIE: "Mine too, and of course pink Easter Eggs taste the best of all!" Nods emphatically. "Now that I've found my Easter Egg, I'll help you! I see you found a pretty pale pink Easter Egg!"
SCOUT: "I did, Rosie! I am going to share it with mijn allerbeste vriend Peter too, and also with sweet Aurora!"
ROSIE: "Oh they will love that, Scout! How kind and generous you are!"
SCOUT: "We will have soooo many pretty pink Easter Eggs between us that we will have plenty for after Easter too!"
ROSIE: "Oh yes, Scout! Now let's keep looking for more pink Easter Eggs!"
SCOUT: "I think I see some over there, Rosie! Let's go!"
ROSIE and SCOUT: *Run across the lawn with Easter baskets, looking for pink Easter eggs.*
PADDY: "Hullo everyone and everybear! On behalf of Scout, Cousin Paddington, Bogart, Jago, Daisy-Maud, Rosie, Cornelia, Orson, Danny Boy, Algie, Bertie, Nanuk, Emmett, Edgar, Benjamin, Flock, Sapphire, Pearl, Prince Maurice, Freddy, Duckie, Daddy and myself I would like to wish all of our Flickr friends and followers a very happy Easter! May the day be filled with lots of fun, laughter and a chocolate Easter egg... or two! We are sending you all lots of special Easter big little bear hugs and snuffly kisses!"
Paddy has managed to share my thoughts most eloquently. A very happy Easter to you all!
Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.
Rosie is Scout's cousin, because like Scout, she is a free trade knitted bear from Africa. She was made in Kenya by one of the Kenana Knitters, Martha Wanjira. She is made from home spun and dyed wool. She was a gift to me from two very dear friends, including the one who gave Scout to Paddy.
The baskets that Scout and Rosie are using are vintage 1950s thick paper examples which I acquired not long after Easter 2024. The body of the basket is all one piece that is folded together and slipped through cuts at the side. The handle is a separate piece that fits through slits at either end. I love their cute printed characters!
DANNY BOY: "Aye begorra! Would you look at that then, Orson!"
ORSON: "What is it, Danny Boy?"
DANNY BOY: "Well, if I wasn't following a trail of pretty green Easter Eggs that match my scarf, when I came across this enormous green Easter Egg! Sure it would make the Pride of Erin, so it would!"
ORSON: "Goodness Danny Boy! That's wonderful! It's the perfect size and colour for you. The Easter Bunny must have meant you to have it!"
DANNY BOY: "Aye begorra! Do you really think so, Orson?"
ORSON: "Oh yes Danny Boy! I do! That's your special egg!"
DANNY BOY: "Then I guess I really do have the luck of the Irish then!" *Pauses.* "But what about you, Orson. You're English. Do English bears have luck?"
ORSON: "Oh I'm sure we do, Danny Boy, because look!" *Points paw to his feet.* "I found a large golden Easter Egg!"
DANNY BOY: "Aye Begorah! Would you just look at that now! What a treasure it is! Do you suppose it might be made of real gold then?"
ORSON: "Oh I do hope not, Danny Boy! I much prefer that it is made of chocolate! What would I do with a golden Easter Egg?"
DANNY BOY: "Aye! Well, chocolate will be a bit easier to digest than gold anyway, that's for certain!"
Danny Boy, made by the same friend who made Jago, Daisy-Maud and Orson, has a touch of the 'Oirish' in him with his emerald green scarf. He has an open mouth as he likes to sing and comes with his own songbook, "Irish Airs for Teddy Bears". He has a wobbly head to give him animation when he's talking to you, and is made of English mohair, has paws of ultra suede and eyes of glass. Quite a happy-go-lucky little character....
Orson, named after the little bear constellation, was made by the same friend who made Jago and Daisy-Maud. He comes ready dressed in 'trousers' made of German mohair accessorised with embroidered braces. His paws are ultra suede and his eyes are glass. He is described as being a little bit serious minded but very friendly. He's fine once he gets to know you.
ALGIE: "Scout! Scout!"
SCOUT: "What is it, Algie?"
ALGIE: "Scout I found these wonderful Easter eggs up here in the diosma!"
SCOUT: "Oh goody! Grumbly tummy, Algie! Grumbly tummy!" *Rubs tummy vigorously.* "Are there any pink ones?"
ALGIE: *Looks.* "Uuummm.... no, Scout. Only blue, green and a red and blue one."
SCOUT: "That's alright then. You can keep them, Algie! I only want pink Easter Eggs. They are my most favouritest Easter Eggs in the whole wide world!" *Nods enthustiastically.*
ALGIE: "Oh! Very good Scout." *Pauses.* "Err, Scout?"
SCOUT: "Yes Algie?"
ALGIE: "How do we get them down, Scout?"
SCOUT: "Well, we could store them in our tummies."
ALGIE: "But then we can't share them with everybear."
SCOUT: "That's true. Hhhmmm..." *Ponders.* "I know! I know!" *Excited.*
ALGIE: "What Scout?"
SCOUT: "Just drop the Easter Eggs onto the ground below!"
ALGIE: "Oh that's a great idea, Scout!"
SCOUT: "Look out everybear below! Easter Egg showers are expected!"
PADDY, DAISY-MAUD, JAGO, ORSON, ROSIE, BOGART, COUSIN PADDINGTON: *Squeal and run for shelter as Easter eggs are poured from the bucket by Algie.*
Algie is made by the same friend who made Jago, Daisy-Maud, Orson and Danny Boy. He is is made of sparse English mohair, has paws of ultra suede and eyes of glass. A very adventurous little boy, he loves to climb and sit on top of gates, edges of tables and chairs. He adore climbing trees, and will cheekily sit there with crossed legs. He's very friendly and he loves adventures of any kind.
BENJAMIN: "Hullo Emmett and Edgar!"
EDGAR and EMMETT: "Hullo Benjamin!"
BENJAMIN: "Oh well done, you two! You have two wonderfully full Easter baskets!"
EMMETT: "Yes! We have lots and lots and lots of Easter Eggs to add to the picnic hamper."
EDGAR: "We will have plenty to share with our 'Cuddle Bear Friends' Funky and Nutmeg!"
BENJAMIN: "Oh indeed we will! Whilst you were fetching your baskets of eggs, I found a lovely big pink Easter Egg under an acanthus leaf just over there." *Points paw towards acanthus plant.* "So, I think we will have plenty for everybear to share!"
EMMETT: "Oh hoorah!" *Jumps up and down with joy.* "Funky will never have had such a wonderful Easter! When you think about it, with poor Funky living on the street until Peter spotted him and Mummy Marian rescued him and took him home, he probably had very sad Easters, really."
EDGAR: "Nutmeg too, Emmett. And that is why we must share our wonderful hoarde of Easter Eggs with them!"
BENJAMIN: "I'm sure there will be Easter Eggs for them at Mummy Marian's house too, but you are quite right, Emmett and Edgar: it is only right that we share our Easter Eggs with our very own 'Cuddle Bear Friends' Funky and Nutmeg!"
EMMETT: "They will be so happy!"
EDGAR: "And so surprised!"
BENJAMIN: "I just hope that we can carry this picnic hamper full of Easter Eggs to the magic portal!"
EDGAR: "I'm sure if we all pitch in to help, we can, Benjamin!"
EMMETT: "That's right, Benjamin! I'm going to go and collect a few extra just to make sure the hamper is full!"

Made by Merrythought in England, Emmett is a charming little bear, sweet and smiling, crafted from multi-tonal marl grey mohair and featuring golden velvet paws. He is accessorised with a classic tartan woollen scarf. He is number 23 or a limited worldwide edition of 200.
Handmade at Merrythought in England from warm-gold tousled mohair plush, Edgar is a cheerful companion who has terracotta pure cotton velvet paws, and wears a delightful floral cotton bow tie. He is number 2 of a limited worldwide edition of 200.

PADDY: *Reading.* "The wolf sniffed at Little Red Riding Hood's basket, and, after finding out just where the grandmother lived, he jumped into the bushes and disappeared." *Pauses. "Look Scout. See how pleased the wolf is looking!"
SCOUT: "What Paddy?"
PADDY: "Scout! I'm disappointed. I thought you wanted a story and yet you haven't been listening!"
SCOUT: "Oh I'm sorry Paddy, but I was distracted by the bunnies."
PADDY: "Bunnies? There are no rabbits in Little Red Riding Hood. What rabbits, Scout?"
SCOUT: "Those bunnies, Paddy!" *Points paw to three small rabbits carrying Easter Eggs.* "Look Paddy! The bunnies are carrying Easter eggs!"
PADDY: "Why so they are, Scout! Very well observed!" *Gasps.* "Do you know who they are, Scout?" *Trembles with excitement.*
SCOUT: "I think so Paddy." *Trembles with excitement.* "Are they Easter Bunnies?"
PADDY: "They are, Scout! That means it's Easter, and you know what that means, don't you?"
SCOUT: "I do, Paddy!" *Excited,* "It means an Easter Egg hunt!"
PADDY: "It does, Scout! Let's go fetch everybear else!"
SCOUT: "And fox and mouse and duck!"
PADDY: "Hullo everyone and everybear! My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.
He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.
Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. CORNELIA: "Moesje! Moesje my best friend! Look! I ahve found a pretty pale pink Easter Egg decorated with green flowers. I bet it is strawberry flavoured chocolate. I know you like strawberry too, so I'd like to share it with you. I also have some delicious pink Easter Eggs that Scout and Rosie haven't managed to grab. I'll share them with you too, my best friend! Happy Easter!"
Cornelia, I found in an antique and vintage market quite recently. She is a vintage edition Russ Bear from their Mohair Collection. She is made of deliberately mottled mohair to give her that vintage look. One of a limited edition of 10,000, she was designed by artist Carol Hosfstad and is completely handmade.
PADDY: "Hullo Scout and Rosie!"
SCOUT and ROSIE: "Hullo Paddy!"
PADDY: "Are you finding many Easter Eggs?"
SCOUT: "Oh yes we are, Paddy, and we are filling our Easter baskets!"
ROSIE: "But only with pink Easter Eggs, Paddy!"
SCOUT: "Because pink Easter Eggs taste the best," *Nods emphatically.* "Don't they, Rosie?"
ROSIE: "Indeed they do, Scout!" *Nods emphatically too.*
SCOUT: "It looks like you have found an Easter Egg too, Paddy!"
ROSIE: "A big one too, Paddy!"
PADDY: "Indeed I have, Scout and Rosie! I am usually the last to find an Easter Egg, but it seems this year that I am one of the first! It is such a big egg: far too big for me, so I shall share it with mijn beste vriend Oleg. I know that he will enjoy that!"
SCOUT and ROSIE: "Congratulations, dear Paddy!" *Clap paws in delight.*
PADDY: "Hullo everyone and everybear! CLASSIC PADDINGTON: "Now, let's see... seven large Easter Eggs, three small baskets of Easter Eggs, a tin of Easter Eggs, a picnic hamper of Easter Eggs, a bucket of Easter Eggs... I think we are about done!"
MOVIE PADDINGTON: "Don't forget the mini luggy of Easter Eggs too, dear Classic Paddington, and I have managed to fit a few extra Easter Eggs into my suitcase too!"
CLASSIC PADDINGTON: "Capital, Movie Paddington! Capital!"
MOVIE PADDINGTON: "This should be enough to ward off our grumbly tummies for the next day of two."
CLASSIC PADDINGTON: "Well, I wouldn't go quite that far, Movie Paddington. Maybe until the end of Easter Sunday... perhaps."
MOVIE PADDINGTON: "Grumbly tummy Classic Paddington! Grumbly tummy!" *Rubs tummy vigorously.*

Made in a special numbered edition, I am fortunate enough to have number 17.

BOGART: "Ooooh!" *Gaps.*
COUSIN PADDINGTON: "Did you find anything in the pot of daisies, Bogart?"
BOGART: "Oh yes I did, Cousin Paddington! I found lots of little Easter eEggs!"
COUSIN PADDINGTON: "Oh well done Bogart! And you were worried that being a little bear you wouldn't find any Easter Eggs. Here, hand me the eggs you found and I'll put them in your Easter basket. Then I'll help you down and we'll keep looking."
BOGART: "Alright Cousin Paddington. When I get down, am going to share my eggs with my best friends Fuzzy and Danbo."
COUSIN PADDINGTON: "That is very generous of you, Bogart."
BOGART: "Well, there are far too many for me to eat!"
COUSIN PADDINGTON: "I found a nice big egg too. I will happily share mind with everybear!"
BOGART: "That is so lovely of you, Cousin Paddington! You are such a nice bear!"

Bogart has travelled all the way from Georgia, via Alabama as a gift to me from a friend. He has lovely Southern manners and seems to be a fun and gentle soul with an inquisitive nature.
Travelling all the way from London, Cousin Paddington was caught in transit thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic, so it looks like he is stopping with us for a long while. That makes me happy, as the more I look into his happy, smiling face, the more attached I am becoming to him.
The basket that Bogart is using is a vintage 1950s thick paper examples which I acquired not long after Easter 2024. The body of the basket is all one piece that is folded together and slipped through cuts at the side. The handle is a separate piece that fits through slits at either end. BERTIE: "Look what I found Paddy!"
PADDY: "Goodness! Half an Easter egg full of little speckles!"
BERTIE: "Is that what those are?"
PADDY: "Yes, they are droplets of chocolate which are then coated in sugared sprinkles."
BERTIE: "They are ever so pretty! Almost too pretty to eat!"
PADDY: "I'm sure you won't mind eating them once you try one, Bertie!" *Chuckles.*
BERTIE: "I did say, 'almost', dear Paddy! Grumbly tummy Paddy." *Rubs tummy vigorously*
PADDY: "Well these must be intended for you, dear Bertie. A special treat from the Easter Bunny!"
BERTIE: "Oh thank you Paddy, and thank you to the Easter Bunny!"
Bertie came to live with me on Christmas Day 2022. He was a gift from a very dear friend. He is vintage and is hand knitted with soft red dioxide wool and has chocolate brown felt pads on his paws. He has shiny black bead eyes and has his own very smart tartan bow. He tells me that he was living in an antique shop for quite a while, just looking for his forever home, which now he feels that he has. Bertie is very soft and loves cuddles, and whilst perhaps not as forthcoming as some of my other bears due to his shyness, he is very loving and caring and gives big little bear hugs and snuffly kisses beautifully.
ROSIE and SCOUT: "Hullo Duckie!"
DUCKIE: "Oh! Hullo Rosie and Scout!"
ROSIE: "What are you doing, Duckie?"
DUCKIE: "What does it look like, Rosie?" *Surprised.* "You really are rater dim sometimes. I thought you of all bears would know. I'm hatching an egg of course!"
ROSIE: "Hatch an egg, Duckie?" *Alarmed.*
DUCKIE: "Of course! I found this poor red egg overlooked by all your bears as you run hither and thither, and I thought it was perfect for hatching!"
SCOUT: "I don't think that egg will hatch though, Duckie."
DUCKIE: "Humph!" *Snorts through beak.* "Well that just shows you how little you know, Scout. I'll have you know that I came from an egg laid by my Mummy, and my Mummy came from an egg laid by Granny Duck!"
SCOUT: "Oh I knew that, Duckie!"
ROSIE: "I think what Scout was getting at, Duckie, is that what you are sitting on is a chocolate Easter Egg, not a real egg at all."
DUCKIE: "What?!?!"
SCOUT: "That's right, Duckie. It's just a hollow chocolate Easter Egg for eating, not for hatching."
DUCKIE: "Don't be such a naysayer Scout! I'm going to try and I'm sure I will succeed!" *Nods enthusiastically.* "Thank you Easter Bunny for my wonderful new egg! I shall hatch it beautifully!"
PADDY: "Hullo everyone and everybear! Duckie I saw when I was at a Sunday market on a stall of homemade knitted and crocheted items. She caught my eye straight away with her happy, smiley face and bright colours. I think she finds life with my bears intriguing and perhaps a little confusing, however she is learning.
