The Flickr Mewasiodłata Image Generatr

The only ringed great black-backed gull (Larus marinus) I met last year, called JT275.

I met it in our neighbourhood twice, during spring and summer. But I met many more ringed gulls of other species.

It's interesting to register them and get to know their history. This one was ten years old, ringed as a chick in Strand further north-east in our county.

It is seen many times in the Netherlands through the years, and one time in Germany, southern Norway and Great Britain.

It was last seen in the Netherlands 1.5 years before I met it.

I am curious if this or any of the other ringed birds I met on our island last year will come back to nest this year.

The great black-backed gull's nest I've photographed during and after hatching - in all kinds of weather on the island where we live.

After shooting lots of nice photos of these cuties in both sunshine and rain this day, it was awesome to get the rainbow too before I left.

It got a bit pushy when these great black-backed gull chicks (Larus marinus) tried to find the best spot for shelter from the wind, but most of the time they seemed like good friends 😉

A great black-backed gull's nest (svartbak in Norwegian) I've photographed in different weather before and after hatching. Here there were some cracks in the eggs. Later I even got the gull chicks in the nest with a rainbow behind them - must edit that one soon ツ

Boulogne sur mer les 03 et 05/11/2016

It is not often you get the opportunity to shoot portraits of Great Black-backed Gulls Larus marinus. However, when entering the urban sphere, they seem to adopt the behaviour of other urban gulls, being very approachable. This near adult (5cy?) Great Black-back was more than interested in bread in the city park of Bergen today, and I got a decent share of close-ups.
