Fall for me provided a truly surprising amount of autumn hues in Yosemite Valley, where I just had never envisioned so many deciduous trees, or the ones that I knew were there I thought to not put on much of a show. I was wrong on both counts. Like most of California, the hues skew gold as the variety of trees in this view looking west show. On the left the Cathedral Rocks can be seen in front of the further southern wall of the valley. The Merced River’s path can be traced by following the trees which line the shores hiding it as it snakes to the right and then crosses the meadow flanked by tall pines. The fall palette of golden yellow deciduous trees, deep green pines, soft brown grass, and hazy blue granite was quite spectacular. I hope to return to Yosemite Valley next fall to see this splendor again.
