We were sitting outside the RV at Patagonia State Park near Patagonia, AZ. I always have my binoculars on my lap and camera nearby and had been watching various Flycatchers, vireos, and warblers in the trees nearby when my eye caught this bird near the ground close by. Unfortunately it was behind a rock and I clipped its feet because I couldn't get high enough and was afraid to get closer and spook the bird. This is probably the 8th or 9th MacGillivray's we've seen recently.
Yellow warblers are back for another summer at Cardinal Marsh. They winter in Central America or northern South America. Yellow warblers like to nest in willow thickets here at Cardinal Marsh. I will be away from Flickr tomorrow night as I will be helping to host a chimney swift watch party, where at dusk people will get the chance to see hundreds of chimney swifts do an amazing "tornado dance" as they all dive into a big old brick chimney in swift succession.
