‘Soleful’ window, or soul full doorway more likely, the eyes of the soul for buildings are usually their windows. The aperture here has a threshold slab in three pieces that speaks of being laid for a doorway. This doorway without door when holding the shadow and light one from the other appears like a window to the history of the building and a gauge on the season and atmospheric conditions. This doorway also appears like a ‘Soleful’ window having seen many years, cheers and tears.
Soleful sounding like soulful is for me the cross over term for windows into the soul that are walked through over the threshold with the sole in contact with the Soleful Door that appears to be a Soulful Window upon the scene and of the building.

Remember the movie COOL HAND LUKE with Paul Newman? In it, “The Man” wore mirrored aviator sunshades. He was thus obscured as a human soul. He treated the chain gang men with detachment.
Hiding the eyes can be purposeful. In a personal conversation it is polite to allow eye contact, to reveal emotion, and sincerity to reveal itself.
In my case, my eye doctor told me about a year ago to wear a hat and shades when exposed to sunlight. He diagnosed the beginning of macular degeneration in one eye. Strange about the timing, because the very next week, the results of a DNA test showed I had one of two markers for macular degeneration ......thus I have great motivation to protect against UV rays.
However, it is my habit to remove the shades when I intend to speak meaningfully, or to express my feelings for the subject/person.
The “eyes always have it.” That is the difference between the two images taken minutes apart....one without shades, and one with.

When you're lost in the dark
When you can't find the sun
When the light in your heart is too burned out to see

Not inventive this week. My emotional state has twisted in on itself and I have lost the plot some what.
I suspect I have reached a saturation point for surprises and twisted truths. I am dealing with unemployment, emotional upheaval, reverse culture shock and nagging self doubt.
I hope my trust in humanity returns because I am going to be a bitter cat lady at this rate.
My grandma always says that the eyes are the windows of the soul. So, I decided to start playing completely manual settings in the RAW format to see if I could capture my eyes for this photo. I even did the manual focus. It's going to take some getting used to, that's for sure, but I like how this photo turned out. Hope you do too!
