TED: "Yer a verry lucky bear, Donald! I wuzzn't aloud to do posh pussles fer ages after I started doin' jigsaws, so Mum must be verry impressed wiv yer progress.
So, this is a 'and cut pussle frum Sr.B, that Spannish man wot sells 'is pussels on Etsy. It's a pikchur of a lady wearin' a dead cullerfull dress, an' the backgrownd's cullerfull too.
There's no pikchur to follow so it took us a cupple of days to do, even tho' it's only a small jigsaw. There's a free mini pussle inkluded too, so I fink it's verry good valew fer the munny cuz we'll be doin' it agane an' agane."
DONALD: "I know it's a huge honor to be allowed to make a special hand cut puzzle like this, so I made sure to keep my paws clean while assembling it.
And I like the beautiful felt-lined box with its sliding lid - it adds a touch of luxury!"

When I found this little Chinese wooden puzzle in a charity shop the other day, I had no idea what the subject would be, so it was a bit of a risky purchase.
But when I got it home and opened the box, I was sure I'd come up trumps.
The image is of a full moon low in the night sky, reflected in water, and for such a small puzzle it packs a punch, difficulty-wise.
The dark areas made me stop and think: eventually I decided to turn the pieces according to the direction of the grain, and that sped up completion.
Fairly basic whimsies but I can forgive that.

TED: "I diddunt no wot this lickle woodun pussle wood be like cuz there's no pikchur or name on the box, but I fownd a pikchur inside so that 'elped a bit.
There's ever such a lot of dark peeces but Donald 'ad the clevver idea of puttin' the peeces all the same way in the direkshun of the grain, an' that made it a lot eazier - 'e's a brite lickle bear is Donald!
So it's a pikchur of a full moon over water, an' so that's wot we all desided to call it."
DONALD: "Thanks to Ted's teaching I was able to work out that grain-thing, and that made life so much easier!
Ted's been finding such a lot of varied styles of puzzle for me to practise on, and it's very exciting finding out more and more each day!"

In honor of 1878 I listened to a YouTube video of a performance of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto of that year. I don't expect I'll be listening to that concerto again.

The pencil, which fits into a silver holder, is French and dates from the 1910s. The postcard underneath it is from the same era. The stamp is from an earlier era. It's Victorian and dates from 1887, so it doesn't really fit, but I wanted to add a bit of colour. :)
For this week's Macro Mondays theme, Perfect Together.
I wasn't 100% certain that a postcard counted as paper, so I looked it up. Apparently, it's made from cardstock, which is the thickest type of paper. I live and learn. :)

I found this nice little Robert Longstaff puzzle on eBay recently and couldn't resist it. Just 140 pieces and with no whimsies, it comes in a wooden box made from 4mm birch plywood like the puzzle pieces.
Obviously it doesn't take long to assemble such a small puzzle, but that's alright, I'll keep it for when I have a limited amount of time to spare.
I don't know why Longstaff used boxes for some of their 140pc puzzles, while others were sold in a wooden frame, perhaps someone will have an explanation.

TED: "I no I bin moanin' a bit abowt sum of the jigsaws wot the coffin dodgers bin byein' lately, but I 'ave ter say, I akchully likes this one!
It comes in a lickle woodun box, too, witch is nice.
It's a pikchur of a man an' a lady doin' wot Mum calls canoodlin', witch I fink is sum sort of dancin'... an' it's art deco stile (I no cuz I looked it up in a book).
There ain't no wimsys an' it's a verry eazy 'make', but I'll keep it fer when I don't fancy doin' a big pussle."
