Ornate box turtles are endangered in Illinois. Eggs from their current habitat are brought into captivity to incubate, hatch, and give the baby turtles a head start growing before being released back where their nests were. A Turtle Head Start program. This egg was late in hatching so it was radiographed to see if there was something inside.
