After lunch, I stopped by at Shimogamo Shrine. A friend had told me about this cherry tree a few days earlier, and I found it in peak bloom. Without a camera, I cycled back home, only to return two hours later, after a little rain. At first, I thought having left the camera at home was a stupid idea, but after seeing all those petals on the bridge at this time, I was happy to have returned there later.
All that's missing in this landscape is a person wearing a Kimono with a Japanese-style umbrella... :)
I did see a large group of 20-something Instagrammers rushing over to nearby Hosen-in with an umbrella. Unfortunately, Insta photographers all too often only focus on the ever-same well-known compositions. "Take some time, breath, and find something truly personal!" is what I often want to say to these people, but well... ^-^"
