A brief visit to the Gwili Railway on 13 July 2023 yielded this colourful shot of 47 'Moorbarrow' working the 15.15 round trip from Abergwili Junction (on the outskirts of Carmarthen) to Danycoed Halt, a journey of about 4-miles, the train is crossing the main road through the village and is about to enter Bronwydd Arms, the former southern terminus of the Gwili.
47 started life in 1955 having been built by RSH for the NCB (Northumberland Area) at Backworth Colliery where it acquired its running number, (built as 7849). Later 47 moved to Whittle Colliery before being withdrawn in 1973 and preserved at the NYMR who gave it the name 'Moorbarrow', the fictitious name of Goathland in the plays and books written by Pat Wilson.
