A patch of giant sunflowers in someone's yard was attracting lots of bees. This longhorn bee is a bee lifer for me. The species is also called the sunflower bee. Beautiful light-colored eyes mean it is a male. Such a pretty sight.

Went on a little nature walk with my daughter & 2 of my grandkids. The thirteenth thing we saw was a cute little longhorn bee on another sunflower. It was amazing how many bees were attracted to those sunflowers. This guy is totally covered in pollen, a pollination superstar.

First time I've gotten a shot like this. My neighbor has a flowerbed with blue salvia and lambs-ear. Both are blooming right now & there are tons of bees. It is a bit overwhelming so I just aim at the flowers and take a lot of clicks hoping for some keepers. I had no idea there were 2 bees in this shot until processing. The males have much longer antennae (longhorns) than the females. Both have amazing blue eyes.
