This was the first waterfall on a trail passing four waterfalls in the Blue Mountains park near Sydney, Australia. I don't remember the trail name right now. Water flow was pretty light but for this set of falls I really liked the small strings of water from the minimal water. I returned at night to the waterfall at the other end of the trail to see hundreds of glow worms. I never saw another person the entire time, it was peaceful.
One of my very few photos with people in it, there for scale. Angel Oak ended up being very difficult to photograph, fencing and buildings around, opening hours outside of the golden light hours, signs all over the place, a late opening time so there are lots of tourists getting in the shots, etc. But...an amazing site to see. Taken with an infrared converted camera.
This castle is in Bosnia and I had to arrange my entire trip in such a way that I was able to see it. I looked around for a while on the other side to find a good sunset location (being sure to avoid potential landmine areas), but it turned out that the sunrise spot I had picked out also got nice sunset light so I shot from there. I liked the gentle light hitting the side of the castle and some of the trees, and used my infrared camera to accentuate the light.
The castles in the Balkans are pretty intense; due to centuries of warfare they are some of the most inaccessible and epic castles you’ll find anywhere. This one is in Serbia and I was glad that there was some nice fall foliage to go with the gentle sunrise light. I had to do a steep hike up the small neighbouring mountain in the dark in order to get this sunrise shot but it was worth it. There were no other tourists around and the entire experience was exactly what I look for when travelling. This is a close up but there are some wider angle shots of this castle in the Honourable Mentions below.
The first light of day ignites the snow-clad peaks near Kilpisjärvi, Finland, casting a breathtaking glow over the Arctic wilderness. Shades of pink and gold dance across the rugged landscape, contrasting with the deep purples and blues of the lingering night. A vast frozen expanse stretches into the distance, embodying the raw, untamed beauty of the far north as it awakens to a new day.

High atop Kuertunturi, near the village of Äkäslompolo, winter drapes the landscape in pristine silence. The snow-covered trees stand like frozen sentinels, their heavy branches shaped by the relentless Arctic winds. In this lonely expanse, where the only sounds are the whisper of the cold air and the crunch of snow underfoot, solitude becomes a companion rather than a void.
The fell, bathed in the soft glow of the fading sun, transforms into a dreamlike world—one where time slows, and the purity of winter’s embrace is absolute. This is Lapland at its most serene, a place where nature speaks in whispers and solitude feels like a gift.
