37402 'Bont Y Bermo' at Birmingham International, Friday 8th September 1995, with the retimed 1D62 08:10 Birmingham International - Holyhead (amended to depart at 07:50).

This was as a result of the train being diverted via Wellington (Down Main), Shrewsbury (Up & Down Main) to Chester, where it reversed, due to damage being discovered to a rail over road bridge in the Tattenhall area, (Bridge No.42, Ford Lane) and a restriction being placed running locomotive hauled trains in the down direction only, over it.

This restriction lasted for about one week. 37422 on the same diversion, being pictured here at Rossett -

BR 37274 was hauling the SO 6S60 08:40 Coedbach Washery to Mossend anthracite duff service in April 1989 when recorded between Yorton and Wem. If the cross wind persisted, a good portion of the duff would not make it to Scotland!

37 274 is seen passing Lawrence Hill Yard, as it runs north Light Engine, on September 22nd 1979.

In the background, the last remaining section of station canopy can be seen through the exhaust haze, and immediately to the side of the loco a loading gauge can be seen. The grounded van on the right is a former Banana Van, B882011.

A dual-door Leyland National is crossing Church Road bridge, heading towards town.

37 274 was built by English Electric as D6974, entering service in April 1965. She was renumbered 37 274 in March 1974, and to 37 402 in June 1985. She is owned by Harry Needle, and stored at Barrow Hill.

A short set of HEA's is hauled by 37274 northbound through the cutting near Morton, Derbyshire, on 25th May 1990.

This was the last class 37, built in 1965 when it carried the number D6608. It was withdrawn in 2007 as 37308, and entered preservation, currently at the Severn Valley Railway awaiting restoration. (Jan 2024).
