75069 BR Standard 4

What is 60 feet long and weighs 67 tons…? Answer: Robert Riddles designed steam locomotive No. 75069, a British Railways Standard Class 4 4-6-0, built in 1955 at Swindon Works. It was designed for mixed traffic duties on secondary routes and was a part of a batch allocated to the Southern Region. It featured a larger BR1B tender for increased coal and water capacity.

After being withdrawn from service in 1966, No. 75069 was rescued and preserved by the 75069 Fund. The loco is seen preparing to depart Kidderminster station during Severn Valley Railway’s spring steam gala on 20 April 2025.
