For my landscape project this year, I had anticipated taking a few shots of Ontario's famous fall colour. We had very little this year, probably due to mild weather until late October. And my health has mostly been too poor to travel to where the colour was more vivid. Now the weather has turned seasonably cold and the leaves will drop without fanfare. This is the view from our front sidewalk.

Day 300/365
Flickr Lounge: photographer's choice
Day 300 of 2023, and I have succeeded in getting creature shots 297 of those days, or 99%. It also made it to 80 degrees Fahrenheit or nearly (81 was predicted and I saw 79), and we're now moving into highs below 70, so I made sure to spend some quality time outside and take in what was likely to be the last good butterfly day of the season. This lovely monarch was my first find of the day, but it was joined by one or two species of sulphurs, common buckeyes, painted ladies, cabbage whites, pearl crescents, at least two species of skippers, and finally a variegated fritillary--at least nine butterfly species and likely more. Plus several species of moths, bees, wasps, and even a damselfly. A lovely "ending" to the insect year, though I will probably see a few more butterflies here and there and will certainly see insects of some variety.
