Her şey ıslanmıştı yağmurun ardından
Gönlüm bile ıslaktı sırılsıklam
Düşün öyle yağmıştı yağmur
Aklımı bile sel basmıştı acımadan

A wrecked fishing boat has abandoned at Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada

A abandoned boat was seen at Peggy's Cove that was featuring a lot of unique details, decay with decomposed wood, peeled paint, old fishing gear, rusty damaged equiments and junk that used to have their utility on board back in the days.

Coastal shrimp fishing

The shrimp boat "Ostpreußen" (in English: "East Prussia"), viewed from the sandy beach of Sankt-Peter Ording on the Eiderstedt Peninsula, Nordfriesland, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany

Some background information:

The shrimp boat "Ostpreußen" is registered in the port town of Husum. Built in 1978, it has an overall length of almost 21 metres. The sandy beach of Sankt-Peter Ording, where we saw it passing by, is located about 45 kilometres (28 miles) to the southwest of Husum at the North Sea coast. It has a length of 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) and a width of two kilometres (1.25 miles). The beach of Sankt-Peter Ording is seperated into different sections, but in its entirety one of the largest beaches in all littoral states of the North Sea. It is so flat and smooth that it has become a popular site for sail-racing, a sport similar to wind-surfing but on wheels.

Dunes, salt meadows and cultivated forested areas are directly bordering the beach. In particular, the salt meadows are of special ecological importance, since they belong to the few salt meadows that remain in their natural state. The normal range of the tides at the beach of Sankt-Peter Ording is up to three meters. Hence, the buildings at the beach like sea rescue stations and beach bars have to be erected on stilts.

The beach lies in the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park (in German: "Nationalpark Schleswig-Holsteinisches Wattenmeer"). The landward side of the beach is flooded with sea water only occasionally and not every year, so that amphibians such as grass frogs, moor frogs and toads (Bufo bufo) live uncharacteristically close to the seashore. Even the natterjack toad (Bufo calamita) is able to reproduce successfully in this environment. At the southernmost point of the beach the lighthouse of Sankt Peter-Böhl is located. Its automated light has a range of 16 nautical miles.

The municipality of Sankt-Peter Ording is a popular German seaside resort and as such, the only one that has a sulphur spring. Sankt-Peter Ording has less than 4,000 residents, but by overnight stays, it is the largest seaside resort in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. The commune is situated on the western tip of the Eiderstedt peninsula.

Sankt Peter-Ording consists of several formerly separate districts. In 1373, The village of Sankt Peter was first mentioned in a document. Previously, the place was called Ulstrup. The name of the church, Sankt Peter, was later used as the name of the village because Ulstrup had lost much land due to sand drift. However, there is also evidence of much earlier Frisian and Viking settlements. After the storm surge of 1553, the villages of Süderhöft and Böhl lost their independence and were united with Sankt Peter.

Due to the constant sand drift, very little professional fishing could be established in the area, as no harbor could be built because of the siltation. Even agriculture, on which the population predominantly relied before the tourism boom, often did not yield enough, as the lands frequently silted up, were salted by floods, or were completely lost in storm surges.

Because of these conditions, the number of poor families in the population was high. People often searched for amber on the sandbanks and in the tidal channels, supplied themselves with crabs, mussels, and flatfish, and collected flotsam. Valuable items were often concealed from the beach bailiff due to the demanded taxes and stranded ships often fell victim to beach piracy.

In particular, the drifting sand dunes used to be a major problem for the residents. The people of Ording had to abandon their church twice, after having to regularly dig a path to the church service for decades. Planting the dunes began in 1826 by order of the Danish King, who ruled over the Duchy of Schleswig until 1864. At that time, the river Eider formed the border. In 1863, Ording and Sankt Peter united ecclesiastically. After the Austro-Prussian War in 1867, the districts of Sankt Peter and Ording became part of the Prussian province of Schleswig-Holstein.

In 1872, the first paying overnight guests were recorded in Ording. The founding date of today’s seaside resort is considered to be 1877, when the first hotel was built in the dunes. In 1911, the first of the characteristic stilt buildings on the beach was erected. It was called "Giftbude" and known for its selling of cognac. In 1913, the first sanatorium was established. Half a century later, more rehabilitation facilities were built after a strong iodine saline spring was discovered in 1953, and in 1958, official recognition was given as a North Sea health and sulphur spa.

The municipal merger into Sankt Peter-Ording took place not before 1967. In 1970, the municipality became part of the new district of Nordfriesland. Until then, it had belonged to the former district of Eiderstedt. The municipality of Sankt Peter-Ording has been the filming location for several film and television productions. And today, its popularity among visitors from far and wide is still unabated.

Eiderstedt, where Sankt-Peter Ording is located, is a peninsula on the North Sea coast. It is about 30 kilometers long and 15 kilometers wide and was formed around 1200 through land reclamation with dike constructions and the consolidation of two islands and a peninsula. Those were the islands of Utholm and Westerheversand as well as the Everschop-Eiderstedt penisnsula. Today, about 22,000 people live in the 24 towns and municipalities of the peninsula. Eiderstedt is particularly flat and protected against the North Sea by grass-covered dikes. These dikes are grazed by numerous flocks of sheep, just like the salt meadows on the other side of the dikes, which blend into the Wadden Sea.

Playa de la Caleta

Playa de la Caleta is an iconic beach in Cádiz with spectacular views of the sunset. When you look out from the sandy beach, over the blue water, you can see the fisherman's boats along the shore and San Sebastian and Santa Catalina Castles on either side of the beach. If you get hungry you can always order something to eat at the local cafes and bars along the beach.
