The Flashes is a river valley mire covered cwith purple moor-grass, cross-leaved heath, common cottongrass, heather, rushes, phagnum mosses and peat.

This is the view from the top of Stony Jump looking towards King's Hill, 12 miles away on the horizon.

Stony Jump, 397 feet elevation, is one of the 36 Surrey hills listed on the national hill climbing database. Kings Hill, 720 feet elevation, is one of the highest points on the Hampshire Downs and is listed as one of England's TuMPs.
