Virginia Beach Mid-Atlantic streetscape, with crooked palm at motel driveway.

Streetpalms of the U.S. Mid-Atlantic are more likeable than streepalms of the U.S. Sunbelt, on account of their being less common in the Mid-Atlantic.

In Virginia Beach, Virginia, on October 10th, 2023, was a palm at the driveway of the Seahawk Motel at the southeast corner of Atlantic Avenue and 26th Street.

Is "Sleep Inn & Suites by Choice Hotels" your favorite brand of hotel chain? by Tim Kiser

Is "Sleep Inn & Suites by Choice Hotels" your favorite brand of hotel chain?

Do you like purple objects? When a researcher says to you "Next, I want you to think of a business sign," is this the kind of object that comes to mind?

That little tree next to the sign is in a weird location imo, but I like it and I hope it never gets chopped down.

Buildings honor a parking lot: They encircle it and smile upon it. by Tim Kiser

Buildings honor a parking lot: They encircle it and smile upon it.

Ugh but across the parking lot and beyond the lineup of arborvitaes, one of the buildings is a former Eagles lodge, ugh. Yea it is the red one in the center.

Get away from me with your nostalgia for the Fraternal Order of Eagles, which was officially, openly white supremacist into the 1970s, and more quietly after that.

Comical "bright beige" winter dormancy of whimsically-shaped blob of turfgrass. by Tim Kiser

Comical "bright beige" winter dormancy of whimsically-shaped blob of turfgrass.

But the aggressive curviness of the turfgrass's right-hand boundary with the gravel arouses such delight that the bland uncertainty of its left-hand boundary with the mulch is a bad letdown in comparison.
