Dit beeld dateert uit 2003, het werd ontworpen door de Turnhoutse recyclagekunstenaar, Paul Van Hees.
Hij kreeg van de geschied- en heemkundige kring Taxandria de opdracht een beeld te ontwerpen. De vereniging vierde haar eeuwfeest en wilde een blijvende herinnering aan de stad schenken.
Paul Van Hees koos voor een jachttafereel, waarbij een jager en zijn hond een vluchtend hert achterna zitten.
Het vluchtende hert is sinds het ontstaan van Turnhout terug te vinden in het wapenschild van de stad.
Het beeld stond eerst op de graskant, maar werd uiteindelijk in de vijver geplaatst uit voorzorg voor vandalisme.

This statue dates from 2003, it was designed by the Turnhout recycling artist, Paul Van Hees.
He was commissioned by the historical and local history society Taxandria to design a sculpture. The association celebrated its centenary and wanted to give a lasting memory of the city.
Paul Van Hees chose a hunting scene, in which a hunter and his dog chase a fleeing deer.
The fleeing deer has been in the city's coat of arms since the creation of Turnhout.
The statue first stood on the grassy edge, but was eventually placed in the pond as a precaution against vandalism.

Muntbrug with Muntgebouw, Utrecht. The Muntbrug is a swing bridge from 1887. The iron bridge construction was made by the Hague iron foundry De Prins van Oranje from The Hague. The bridge was renovated in 2015-2016.
