"The United States Military Academy (USMA), commonly known as West Point,[7] is a United States service academy in West Point, New York that educates cadets for service as commissioned officers in the United States Army. The academy was founded in 1802, and it is the oldest of the five American service academies. The Army has occupied the site since establishing a fort there in 1780 during the American Revolutionary War, as it sits on strategic high ground overlooking the Hudson River 50 miles (80 km) north of New York City." Premierlieutenant (later Generalmajor) Louis Friedrich Meyer, Infanterie-Regiment (1. Hannoversches) Nr. 74, 1890.

* 27.10.1858 in Bentheim, Königreich Hannover.
⚭ 3.10.1894 in Hamburg, Deutsches Reich.
- Louise Helene Großmann (*13.6.1867)
+ nach 1926.

Meyer was the studious sort, having spent the bulk of his long career with the German army at teaching institutions, notably the Haupt-Kadetten-Anstalt, Kadettenhaus-Potsdam, and was commander of Kadettenhaus-Naumburg. By 1914, Meyer had been in the army for 37 years and was winding down for retirement, but alas, destiny had other plans. The completion of the Great War saw Meyer as a Generalmajor and he left the service. Sadly, his life after 1926 is unknown.
