Family Cuddles

Today it is six months since I met this adorable family for the first time.

Two lionesses and two cubs kept together close to our camp in Masai Mara, and we photographed them many times.

The first time was during dawn the first evening after just arriving the national park.

Today I will spend the day both together with my parents and my sister's family, to watch my niece's first dance show. And then have an Easter concert together with my choir family ♡

The Disappointed Pride by Ranveig Marie Photography

The Disappointed Pride

A pride of six lions (two males, two lionesses and two young ones), that just had killed a Maasai cow not that far from our camp in Masai Mara five months ago.

We watched as the Maasais came to pick up their valuable cow to use the meat.

And we were told that the Masaais had scared and yelled at the lions, who now hid disapponted, hungry and ashamed in the forest.

Check out more photos of them in the links below the line!

One of the two cubs and two lionesses that we met during the first days on the savanna a little over three months ago, close to our camp.

It was really touching to watch their cuddles and love for each other and they gave us many nice motives.

Beautiful Beast

One of three beautiful male lions that relaxed together in the heat in Masai Mara.

It's already one month since I got home from that last wonderful trip there.

Tonight I will have a presentation in one of our photography clubs, about my photography history- how it started and developed. I mostly use photos from the archive, but I have edited this as one of the few new ones.

Family Nap

The lioness and her cubs (and another lioness that was in the background), that we met already the first evening right after arriving Masai Mara 2.5 weeks ago.

This one is from the first whole day, when we got them both in the morning light, and here during the afternoon.

It was really touching to watch their cuddles and love for each other!

We got close to lions of different tribes almost every day in Kenya last week.

We met this lioness and her cubs (and another lioness that was in the background here), close to our camp already the first evening right after arriving.

Lazy Lions by Ranveig Marie Photography

Lazy Lions

We stood really close to these lions with our jeep, one early morning in Masai Mara last summer.

They laid down most of the time, but after some wait, the male finally lifted his head a couple of times. I also got photos of him yawning ツ

The Silver Lioness by Ranveig Marie Photography

The Silver Lioness

I almost never enter big photo contests. I only tried for fun two times several years ago, and got three out of twelve accepted photos each time.

But last month I decided to try again. I entered my first international photo contest, hosted by Sweden.

Out of my eight photos, I got two accepted, one honorable mention (for the photo of the hairdressing pelicans), and one silver (!) for this lioness ツ Unexpected!

Family Time by Ranveig Marie Photography

Family Time

After passing a large flock of buffalos in the middle of the road one evening in Masai Mara, we found the large and known Topi Tribe of lions, relaxing at the bottom of the valley - probably waiting to hunt the buffalos at night.

It was so beautiful to watch them laying there up close, cuddling and enjoying themselves.

A lovely throwback to Kenya, on a grey day.

I felt like watching The Lion King when this lioness brought her cub to this spot, and walked right by our jeep on their way.

2023 Highlight: Going back to Africa

Ever since I visited Cameroon and South Africa more than 15 and 11 years ago, I had longed to go back to that amazing continent.

And visiting Kenya this summer was just wonderful! So wonderful that I will go back in less than 10 months ッ

Herr, Gott, dich loben wir

Herr, Gott, dich loben wir

6.) Sei hochgebenedeit,
Herr, Gott von Ewigkeit!
Sei, Vater lobgesungen
Rings auf der Erde Kreis von freier Völker Zungen!
Die Rettung kam von dir,
Herr, Gott, dich loben wir.

Johann Friedrich Schink (* 29. April 1755 in Magdeburg/Herzogtum Magdeburg, † 10.
