Sun Prairie Grain van

Nikon F5, Nikkor 24mm f2.8, FPP x-ray film, Df96 for 4 minutes.

This film is finer grained than I thought it would be, but I suppose resolution is kinda important for x-rays. It is contrasty, and renders things in an interesting way. Only sensitive to blues and greens, and the van in this image was a sort of rust red - which it very definitely darkened. Will certainly give this another try. Developed in Df96 for 4 minutes at 74 degrees.

Cwetaceous Wabbit

Triceratops Horridus, which occupied a similar ecological niche as the rhinoceros does today, appeared in the late Cretaceous, around 68 million years ago. That was only two million years before the K/P (Cretaceous/Paleogene, in German: Kreide/Paläogen) boundary, after which all larger dinosaur species had disappeared from the earth.

Talk about bad timing.

Once again, I notice the difference between Ilford Delta 3200 and Kodak TMZ: The Ilford has much finer grain, but also lesser contrast.

Ford F100 cab

Nikon F5, Nikkor 24mm f2.8, Kodak Tmax 100

Abandoned Ford F100 cab rusting in a coulee in an old farmstead. House burned here some time ago, but this was an interesting composition, complete with its own hood, crushed, behind it. This one is interesting - the front and rear glass are still intact.

Dronte by mkk707

Dronte

Also known as Dodo, a rare flightless bird that existed only on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean and became extinct in the 1600s, only a few decades after the arrival of European sailors. The Dronte laid its eggs into ground nests, had no natural enemies and therefore was not equipped to deal with the rats, cats and dogs introduced to the remote island by the Europeans.

This is a reconstructed model based on available skeletons and paintings of the animal. I love that gentle, silly look.

In the wintry forest

Cinestill makes stills film that is derived from cine film, but with the remjet layer removed, so it can be developed with the C41 process.

Their 800T is tungsten balanced, designed to make the warm light appear colder and therefore more natural.

When used in normal light it will make that appear colder too, which might not always be wanted. However, in winter shots the added coldness might work quite well.

Rising lake level, adjusted roadway

Nikon F5, Nikkor 24mm f2.8, Kodak Tmax 100, Df96 - 12mins at 75F.

Many lakes in N Central ND have substantially risen over the past several years - likely due to a connection in these glacial features in the unsorted till beneath the prairie soils. Some of the roadways have needed to be adjusted accordingly.

Extinct

Nikon F5, Nikkor 24mm f2.8, Kodak Tmax 100.

I imagine some cute old lady going into town in the 1930's proudly riding in the vehicle these wheels once graced. I imagine both are extinct now.

St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church by Alex Luyckx

St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church

The Parish began its Catholic ministry some years earlier in a small wooden church known as the German mission church. It also bore the name, St. Joseph. This church was located at the corner of Jackson and Charles St. This parish served the German community as a mission church out of St. Mary's Cathedral until Bishop Dowling suggested it be torn down to be eventually replaced by the present St. Joseph Church. On September 24, 1893, the cornerstone for the present church was laid by Bishop Thomas J. Dowling. Construction was completed by June 24, 1894, at which time Bishop Dowling returned to dedicate our parish in the name of our patron, St. Joseph.
